Pietas Vision

 10th February 2025

I am writing this letter to explain my vision of the Pietas Project. The name Pietas originates from the Latin virtue, translating as duty and loyalty to your faith, fatherland, and family. Evidently to most, England has entered a dark period, and I believe like most, that Christianity will be this nations saviour.

As a young Catholic of 25, I struggle to see how my fellow young people’s future will prosper under the current conditions. However, my optimistic mind is blossoming with ideas, influenced by tradition. The Pietas Project will provide future events, such as promoting and attending men’s rosary rallies around the nation, a growing movement globally; in addition to processions, promoting our pillar of faith through beauty, alongside lectures throughout the year on religious, historical and cultural views.

Last summer I attended a week-long Catholic summer university in Angers, France. This Retreat targets 18-30 year olds, and provides; mass, lectures, workshops, sport, cultural activities, and a good carouse every night. All the food was hand-made and locally sourced within 10km. The retreat, hosted by Academia Christiana, fascinated me. I pondered in search of something similar in Britain, and after asking many, the idea is nowhere to be found.  I would love this idea to migrate to England, where we teach traditional construction techniques like COB, thatching and stone masonry. Foraging, butchering and gardening would also be included. And of course, the mystery of faith.

This is an impossible task for an individual to recreate. Therefore, to garner support I would love to create a monthly newsletter producing opinion articles from established clergy, historians, and influencers with a Christian background. These articles would describe subjects such as the individuals experience in their field, potential challenges against today’s culture, and personal views on how to improve issues within our nation’s community. This page will collect an email list to inform our followers of our initial smaller events and to update them on future articles.

Founded in 2011 by Pope Benedict XVI, the Personal Ordinariate Church, of our lady of Walsingham, encourages the conversion from the Church of England to the Catholic faith. They are fully Anglican and fully Catholic. While rich in Anglican culture, to practicing the true Catholic faith. They do not subject themselves to woke agendas and are more traditional than most in the catholic church from what I have experienced so far. They have spare priests available to help in certain aspects of this project after speaking to a few. If this nation is to have any hope of unifying the Catholic faith and developing its Christian roots once again, then I believe the Personal Ordinariate Church, of our lady of Walsingham to be the umbrella of which we seek refuge.

In Domino,

                 Anselm James Lally Esq.
